The Thor Ragnarok director is returning to the MCU with Thor Love and Thunder in 2021. Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson and Natalie Portman have been confirmed to star, not much else is known about the movie. However, Waititi has now revealed that his very own Korg will feature in the movie after his Avengers Endgame cameo. The 44-year-old told Jimmy Kimmel the news yesterday saying: “My character is coming back, Korg.”
Loki perished at the hands of Thanos at the start of Avengers Infinity War.
However, his alternate 2012 self managed to escape capture on Earth thanks to his possession of the Tesseract.
This version of Thor’s brother will be the focus of the upcoming Loki Disney Plus series, which is released a few months before Thor Love and Thunder.
According to FandomWire’s acquired production longline: “[Loki] follows Loki after the events in Avengers Endgame as the trickster uses the power of the Tesseract to travel throughout human history and change historical events.”
Apparently, after this he ends up arriving just in time for Thor Love and Thunder and with Thor’s hammer Mjolnir no less.
If true, this is particularly exciting since Mjolnir was destroyed in the main MCU timeline by Hela in Thor Ragnarok.
And during Avengers Endgame, Thor borrowed an alternate Mjolnir to fight Thanos, before Captain America returned it to the past.
With Loki allegedly bringing another version of Mjolnir with him, perhaps this will explain how Jane Foster becomes Mighty Thor in the new movie?
Loki streams of Disney Plus in Spring 2021, while Thor: Love and Thunder is released on November 5, 2021.
