Next year the post-Avengers Endgame Marvel Phase 4 kicks off with Black Widow and The Eternals. But it’s 2021’s line-up that looks particularly interesting with what looks like a variety of realities being explored.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness sees the Sorcerer Supreme team up with Scarlet Witch.
While the latter has her own Disney Plus show just beforehand in the form of WandaVision.
And now as was expected, the Loki Disney Plus show will also tie into Doctor Strange 2.
Speaking with Bloomberg, Marvel boss Kevin Feige teased: “I’m not sure we’ve actually acknowledged that before. But it does [have a connection].”
Of course, the Time Stone was destroyed by Thanos in Avengers Endgame while the past version of the gem was returned to 2012, to the Ancient One’s possession.
But considering Doctor Strange 2 will explore the multiverse, Loki could take the Time Stone that was returned to the Ancient One at the Battle of New York.
Meanwhile, a popular new fan theory argues that the Loki who died in Avengers Infinity War was actually the 2012 alternate version of the Asgardian prince.
Reddit user ak2sup writes: “Loki’s line ‘[The] sun will shine on us again’ from Infinity War meant more than we think. [The] Loki we saw in Infinity War wasn’t main Loki but 2012 Loki who escaped with [the] Tesseract during [Avengers] Endgame.
They continued: “After he escaped with [the] Tesseract, whatever he does will be shown in his upcoming Disney Plus TV series.
“[At] the end of that series Loki somehow [found out] about [the] main timeline and travel[led] to this universe using [the] Tesseract.
“He then replaced himself with main Loki on [the] Asgardian ship allowing main Loki to escape.”
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is released in UK cinemas on May 7, 2021, while Loki hits Disney Plus that Spring.
